Moonscape is a free and freely shareable high-definition documentary about the first manned Moon landing. Funded and produced by space enthusiasts from all over the world, it shows the full Apollo 11 landing and moonwalk, using only the original audio, TV and film footage and the original photographs, rescanned and restored from the best available sources, with full English subtitles (other languages will follow). Details of the project are here.
Moonscape is made possible by the donations and hard work of many people. If you like what you see and you want to help the project (and have your name or company name in the end credits as a sponsor), please make a donation so we can continue improving Moonscape.
Thanks to your donations, Moonscape can continue to be improved

Neil and Buzz discard their backpacks, no longer needed for the return to orbit, by tossing them out of the LM hatch. Ed von Renouard, video technician at the Honeysuckle Creek receiving station in Australia, captured the event with his 8mm movie camera. This is the only known footage of this part of the mission.

ReplyDeleteI'll add this info to the post.
It only lets me download the trailer. How do I down load the full production?
ReplyDeleteRepeat the procedure for each part.

Ti ammiro e ti invidio, fin dal 1998 (credo).
Fabio
Grazie!

ReplyDeleteGrazie Paolo!
ReplyDeleteWhat's the small blue flash in video "7. Samples and Photographs (updated 2014/03/06)" minute 16:31 in the right video near the flag?
ReplyDeleteA cosmic ray hitting the camera? A small impact on the moon's surface? A reflection at he LM window (for example caused by unfolding the protective foil outside the LM)? Does someone know what it is?
bellissimo Paolo, che altro dire, bellissimo.

avevo 14 anni , momento fantastico della mia vita,..... straordinario documento, GRAZIE!!
ReplyDeleteOTTIMO
ReplyDelete(Many thanks for your valuable and useful work.)
Carlo.
I remember watching many of the scenes included on this website when I was 3 months short of 9 years old. I was sitting on the floor with my brother in front of the television in my grandmother's living room in Rosemead, CA. I watch these scenes now and they bring tears to my eyes. I am so proud of these men and their remarkable achievement it is hard to express. The restorations are excellent.

ReplyDeleteDisappointing. I'd have downloaded the 12gigs, but I don't the screen populated with unnecessary and distracting graphics and subtitles. Real enthusiasts would've left the raw footage untouched.
ReplyDeleteJason,
DeleteI am a real enthusiast; otherwise this documentary, which has taken countless hourse, would not exist. I made a choice to include graphics and subtitles because without them this footage would not be understandable to anyone who is not an expert. The subtitles help people who have difficulty understanding the garbled voices and they're also useful for hearing-impaired people.
I'm sorry that it doesn't fit your requirements, but I don't have the time to produce a separate subtitle-free version. Please bear in mind that Moonscape is free to download and use. It is certainly not perfect, but it's better than nothing.
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this work of art. As a now retired NASA Apollo 11 alumni - Lunar Module 5 Crew Station Engineer on the Apollo 11 Flight Crew Support Team, This is a legacy that I'm glad my grand children (now 3 years and 18 months old) can see when they grow up to remember what their Grandfather was once a part of back in the "olden days" when human beings first started to explore space. Hopefully, by that time we will be doing a better job of implementing the words we left on the moon than we are now - "We came in peace for all mankind"
ReplyDeleteLou Ramon
Thank you, sir, for your kind words and for all the magnificent work you put into getting Apollo to the Moon. Your work of art is now in the best of all places :-)
DeleteHave you considered publishing an official torrent for this video? That way it's a minimal (if any) demand on your limited bandwidth.
ReplyDeleteUnofficial ones exist, e.g. magnet:?xt=urn:btih:ccd3ff4e5fe88e45a51a6736a68912af51617079&dn=MOONSCAPE+%282013%29+The+Apollo+11+Moonwalk+FULL+Remastered+mp4+480p&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.leechers-paradise.org%3A6969&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3A80&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fopen.demonii.com%3A1337&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.coppersurfer.tk%3A6969&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fexodus.desync.com%3A6969
But it would be great to have something offical.
Fantastic work too! Watched some of this series for the 50 anniversary, at Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex.
